Jacqui Smith steps down as Chair of The Jo Cox Foundation

July 11, 2024

Jacqui Smith speaking at the Jo Cox Civility Commission launch

Following the General Election, Rt Hon Jacqui Smith has been appointed as Minister for Skills, Further and Higher Education, and therefore has stepped down as Chair of The Jo Cox Foundation. We congratulate Jacqui on this new role and wish her all the best in it and in her appointment to the House of Lords.

Jacqui has served as Chair since 2019, and all at the Foundation send our thanks for her energy, time and knowledge over the past five years. Under her leadership, the Foundation has achieved considerable change on issues that Jo Cox was passionate about, including launching the Jo Cox Civility Commission call to action, delivering the successful Moment to Movement project, and championing the voices of the social connection sector through the Connection Coalition.

Our Board of Trustees will commence recruitment for a new Chair shortly.
