The Great Get Together (19–21 June 2026) is the UK’s annual celebration of everything that connects our communities, inspired by Jo Cox’s belief that we have more in common than that which divides us. It takes place on the weekend closest to Jo’s birthday and has become a national tradition of street parties, community picnics, runs, coffee mornings and simple acts of togetherness.
This year marks ten years since Jo’s murder and ten years of Great Get Togethers. Jo’s message feels more important than ever, and we hope people across the UK will come together to celebrate unity.
Great Get Together events aim to:
- Bring people from different backgrounds together
- Create opportunities for meaningful social connection
- Celebrate what we have in common
Beyond that, these events come in all shapes and sizes and we encourage people to get creative! A group walk, a craft workshop or a street party are all examples of Great Get Togethers – the possibilities are endless.
The Great Get Together is organised by The Jo Cox Foundation, which is a registered charity (charity number 1170836).
The Great Get Together is predominantly funded through donations that are made to The Jo Cox Foundation by individuals or through community fundraising. In 2026, it is particularly funded thanks to all those who donated to a crowdfunding campaign that we ran at the end of 2025, and thanks to the generous support of GoFundMe. If you’d be interested in being a partner, or would like to fundraise at your event and need support, please get in touch.

Of course! The most important thing is bringing people together, so if the official dates don’t work for your plans, feel free to choose another date. You can still register your event with us to appear on the map.
Not at all! The idea for The Great Get Together is about bringing communities together to celebrate what we have in common and to reject division. While it does have cross-party backing, it is completely outside of formal politics.
Yes – of course. The most important thing is bringing people together!
Of course. Many schools across the UK take part in the Great Get Together, sharing Jo’s story with students and bringing to life her message that we have more in common.

Yes! This year, we’re offering a free 10th Anniversary Resource Pack to support Great Get Together events. By registering your event on our website, you’ll be able to order physical resources including bunting, posters, balloons and postcards. These will be available on a first come, first served basis, with limited quantities.
