Taking the middle ground: how to respond to extreme views in your area

Join the Jo Cox Foundation for a Common Room session on responding to extremism, with Dr Gareth Harris, an independent researcher affiliated to the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations (Coventry University).

Gareth’s research focuses on how extremist groups engage people in local communities and community-based initiatives to counter extremism. He has a specific interest in anti-minority and far right groups.

What is this Common Room about?

We will talk about how to work together as communities to take the middle ground and resist extremism.

At the session we will:

• get an overview of anti-minority action in the UK particularly Wales
• share our knowledge and experience of responding to anti-minority extremism
• hear practical examples on how to deal with anti-minority organisations
• explore ideas for how we can take action in our communities to be protected against extremism and reduce our vulnerability

Anyone interested in working together to strengthen community response to reduce anti-minority support, is welcome to take part in this Common Room event.
