Our Statement: Coming Together Through Challenging Times
At The Jo Cox Foundation, our primary concern at all times is the health and wellbeing of our communities. With this in mind, it will come as no surprise that we have decided to postpone The Great Get Together 2020. It is our aim to reschedule for a date later in the year and we’ll do everything we can to make sure everybody has time to plan for any new date. We will keep you updated regularly as our plans evolve.

The Jo Cox Foundation are delighted to announce a new three-year partnership with Spirit of 2012. Inspired by Jo Cox we will transform The Great Get Together from a moment in June - coinciding with Jo’s birthday - to a year-round movement of social and community action, continuously inspiring positive local connections. Together we’re dedicated to breaking down barriers and ensuring all people, no matter their background, feel like a valued member of our society with a sense of identity and belonging.
News: Jo Cox Memorial Grants announced
On the 3rd March 2020 we were delighted to be joined by Baroness Sugg, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, at a special event to announce the recipients of the Jo Cox Memorial Grants (JCMG).
Safer Internet Day 2020: Together for a better internet
The Jo Cox Foundation is excited to support Safer Internet Day this year, joining hundreds of others to promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology.
Loneliness and social isolation: a new decade of action
Jo Cox recognised that loneliness can affect anyone, from the elderly to new mums, or refugees to the recently bereaved. The scale of the issue is huge, with a landmark report commissioned by the British Red Cross and The Co-op in 2016 finding that over 9 million people are affected by loneliness in the UK.
Update: 16 Days of Activism
This year, we took part in 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, an annual international campaign that calls for the prevention and elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
Guest Blog: From Batley to Bangui - Dr Kate Ferguson
In October I flew to Bangui, the capital of Central African Republic. The reason for my trip to Bangui was as part of an international training team let by the Auschwitz Insititute for Peace & Reconciliation, to work with Central African Republic’s new National Committee for the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity, War Crimes, and All Forms of Discrimination. It’s a mouthful, but the name does explain the group's urgent and enormous objective.
