Statement: Sending Our Condolences

November 11, 2019

We are very sad to hear of the death of James Le Mesurier, co-founder of the White Helmets and Director of May Day Rescue. James was a close and valued friend to Jo’s family, friends and Foundation and his support ensured that Jo’s passionate work to protect civilians in Syria continued in her memory.

Shortly after Jo’s death in 2016 James supported the Foundation to transfer £500,000 raised in Jo’s memory through the Jo Cox Fund to the White Helmets in Syria. James worked closely with the White Helmets and Jo Cox Foundation to invest this money in 8 life-saving ambulances alongside the creation of the ‘Hero Fund’ which was used to support White Helmets and their families injured while saving lives.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all who knew and worked with him.
