Update: 16 Days of Activism
This year, we took part in 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, an annual international campaign that calls for the prevention and elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
This campaign touched on some key aspects of The Jo Cox Foundation's work, primarily our efforts to build a better public life by tackling intimidation and abuse; a significant barrier to women’s political participation. Jo was passionate about women's participation in politics, she said: "If women don’t make that 50/50 then the people taking decisions about our communities are never going to be reflective of the needs"
This campaign is also relevant to our work to champion Jo's humanitarian legacy and build a fairer world in her honour. Jo was a staunch advocate of an ethical foreign policy and committed to the protection of civilians in conflict, inspired by her experiences supporting the world's most vulnerable women throughout her international development career.
